Brittany's Book Drive
Having books in the home can help elementary students have success both in school and later in life. Our family at Essential Credit Union is joining WBRZ's Brittany Paige in asking you to help bring the important gift of reading to local children.
Ways you can help:
- Drop any new or gently used books off at any Essential Branch (Louisiana locations)
- Attend our Drive-Thru Drop-off event!
- Order books directly from our Amazon wish list to have them shipped to WBRZ
- Order from your favorite book vendor and chose WBRZ as the delivery address
Books will be divided into groups and brought to parish school library directors for distribution (East Baton Rouge Parish, West Baton Rouge Parish, Livingston Parish, Ascension Parish, Iberville Parish).

Drive-Thru Drop-Off
Wednesday, APRIL 23RD | Essential Credit union operations center
Join us for our annual Drive-Thru Drop-Off Event in support of Brittany's Book Drive! Swing by, donate new or gently used books, and enjoy a free Kona Ice sno-ball as a thank you for your generosity. Plus, we'll be giving away some Essential swag to all donors!
Your donations help put books in the hands of those who need them most, local kids grades K - 8th. Drive up, drop off, and make a difference - all without leaving your car!

- Event Time: 10am to 2pm
Amazon Wish List
Wish Lists have been seperated by grade levels. Books purchased from these Wish Lists will be mailed directly to WBRZ. Have a preferred online book vendor? Make donating easy by shipping your books to: Brittany's Book Drive, c/o WBRZ-TV1650, Highland Road, Baton Rouge, LA 70802.
Important Information Regarding ATM Cards
Starting April 30th, ATM cards will no longer be supported. To continue accessing your funds conveniently, you have the following options:
If you currently have a checking account:
- If you already have a debit card linked to your checking account, you can use it to withdraw cash at ATMs and make purchases anywhere debit cards are accepted.
- If you do not currently have a debit card, you can have a free card printed instantly at any of our branches. If you prefer to have one mailed to you, please call us or email us using the contact information below and we can facilitate your request.
If you do NOT currently have a checking account
- Open a Checking Account: If you do not currently have a checking account, we encourage you to open one following the instructions below. With a checking account, you’ll receive a debit card that provides seamless access to your funds, including ATM withdrawals and additional features like online purchases and direct deposit.
- Visit a branch: If you do not wish to open a checking account, but would still like to be able to withdraw funds, you can visit any of our convenient branch locations. For a list of locations, click here.
How to open a checking account:
- Apply online by clicking the button below and choosing "Existing Member Account".
- Call an Essential representative at 888.369.2207.
- Contact us via email at eservices@essentialcu.org if you have questions or need assistance.
- Visit any branch and speak in-person with a Member Service Representative.

- Log in to online or mobile banking.
- Select “Add a New Account” under the Apply Now section.
